Gamescom 2024 was packed full of amazing game announcements, cool cosplays and of course fantastic opportunities to meet up with business partners new and old. Keep reading for first-hand insights into the event and all it had to offer!

What is Gamescom?

Gamescom is a large-scale event in Cologne created to excite gaming enthusiasts and industry insiders alike. It offers a vibrant space where attendees can dive into the latest game releases, interact with developers, and even forge new partnerships. From testing highly anticipated titles to discovering indie masterpieces, the event is a treasure trove of gaming experiences. What makes Gamescom truly special is the way it bridges fans with the gaming world’s future, offering a first-hand glimpse into what's coming next.

More than 1,400 exhibitors from 64 countries (2023: 1,220 from 63 countries) spread across approximately 230,000 square meters of exhibition space (2023: 230,000) meant there was even more to explore at Gamescom 2024.

The atmosphere at Gamescom is always electric, fueled by major announcements from both big-name publishers and indie developers showcasing their latest creations. These releases stir excitement among the gaming community, creating a shared experience where fans discuss and celebrate upcoming releases both online and in person. It's a place where the love of gaming comes alive, building connections and sparking conversations that extend far beyond the event itself.

Why is Gamescom important to Venatus?

The event is a phenomenal opportunity to illustrate to brands and advertisers the sheer size of the gaming market and the passion that lies within it. In turn this exemplifies the power of gaming media when it comes to reaching global audiences, leading to greater campaign briefs and direct demand opportunities for our publishers.

Gamescom also offers a chance to meet up with our publisher partners to discuss our ongoing success but mainly to have fun and build closer relationships. Strong, transparent relationships are key to an effective monetization partnership and it is something the Venatus team takes particular pride in developing!

What were the big releases at Gamescom 2024?

Among the many announcements at this year’s event, were a range of smaller new games such as Nidoderiko:The Magical World - a platformer gamer reminiscent of the beloved Donkey Kong, a first-person horror release called We Harvest Shadows and RPG Tribe Nine.

However, there was of course a range of AAA games announced to really amp up the crowd. Take a look at some of the trailers released at Gamescom below:

Borderlands 4 - coming in 2025

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 - Released October 25, 2024

Goat Simulator Remastered - coming later in 2024

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero - Released October 11, 2024

Other notable titles included a new trailer for Genshin Impact’s new update, Starfield Shattered Space, Civilization VII, Marvel Rivals, Batman Arkham Shadow, No More Room in Hell 2, Arc Raiders and many many more!

In Summary

Gamescom 2024 was bigger than ever and we thank all our partners who made it so special. We look forward to attending again next year and meeting even more friends and partners. See you next year, Cologne!
