FIFA eWorld Cup will conclude in London this summer
EA and FIFA have announced the FIFA 18 global series will conclude in London on August 2-4 with the FIFA eWorld Cup Grand Final. More than 20 million players participated in FIFA 18’s competitive gaming season, attempting to qualify for the event by competing in multiple FUT championships. But only 32 players qualified, 16 from PS4 and Xbox One, vying to be the FIFA 18 world champion this summer.
According to a report by Newzoo, the growing eSports audience explains why more companies are looking to invest in competitive gaming. The global gaming market is expected to grow to $180.1 billion by 2021 and the demand for eSports is predicted to flourish, with viewers reaching over 380.2 million this year alone.
Co-created by EA and FIFA in 2004, both organisations have partnered with top-tier football clubs, leagues, brands and premium eSports companies such as Adidas and the Premier League.
The upcoming FIFA global series World Cup gives players the opportunity to represent their favourite real-life club through online league competitions, building up to the final in London this August.
