Employee Spotlight: Jessica Oosthuysen!
Q1. Introduce yourself!
I'm Jess! I love travel and I take any chance I can to visit a new country. I've had the privilege of driving a snowmobile on the glaciers of Iceland, eating my weight in Pasta in Rome, and drinking one too many glasses of wine in the Stellenbosh wine region of South Africa! I'm a bit of a foodie and love trying new things — I'll also eat just about anything if it involves cheese! 🧀
After completing an Honours degree in Accounting, I joined KPMG South Africa as an auditor completing my training to qualify as a Chartered Accountant. I then made the move over to London (during the height of Covid) with BDO. After quickly realising auditing was no longer for me, I switched career paths and joined an interior design company as a Finance Manager to continue my career in a more commercial setting, before joining Venatus 2 years ago. Since day 1, Venatus has been an exciting journey. From the complex accounting involved as part of the Livingbridge acquisition, to the implementation of Netsuite, as well as being a part of implementing around 22 new systems and processes since I joined — there's been a lot of learning but it's been extremely rewarding. It's a huge privilege to work with the team that I have.
Q2. What attracted you to joining Venatus?
The down-to-earth culture, the ability to learn, and the exposure to many interesting aspects of accounting I normally wouldn't see.
Q3. What would your advice be to someone considering Venatus as their next workplace?
The open lines of communication make it a really pleasant place to work, everyone is super open and approachable. The fast-paced environment can be challenging at times, but I love that it forces you to grow and push yourself beyond your comfort zone. If you're willing to work hard and be a team player, you'll go far!
