A day in the life of a Publisher Relationship Manager at Venatus: Meet Iza!
Tell us a little bit about yourself and your role at Venatus
My name is Iza, and I am a Publisher Relationship Manager at Venatus.
I've worked at Venatus for a year now, joining just before the first lockdown - not the best timing! Fortunately, I was able to meet everyone in the London office and get some quality time in with the office dogs before we started working remotely.
I work between the Business Development and the Publisher Operations team as the day-to-day point of contact for our wonderful publishers. I facilitate their journey from the moment they register with Venatus to the day their ads go live, supporting them with new formats, features and best practices for driving revenue.
What does a typical day look like for you?
I start my mornings by checking to see if there are any urgent tasks to work on, such as new tickets from publishers or time-sensitive projects. After this, it's time to welcome our new publishers - yay! I check that I have all the information we need before handing over to the Publisher Operations team, who kick starts the integration.
Late mornings are often filled with publishers calls, sending sites over to our SSPs for approval, or sourcing information for the sales team about bespoke opportunities available through our partners.
I make a conscious effort to spend my lunch breaks away from the screen. If it's nice out, I will go for a walk in the park to get some Vitamin D - the spring sunshine is definitely making lockdown feel more manageable.
Depending on the day, I may spend the afternoon creating content for the Publisher Knowledge Base or working on our monthly newsletter or any other comms for our publishers. For example, this week, we've been moving publishers over to Google MCM, which has been very exciting.
Our office runs weekly yoga sessions, so every Tuesday the team winds down from the day with some calming Hatha Yoga - namaste!
What makes your day?
Reading positive feedback from our publishers is always very rewarding. Everyone is working hard to make our partners happy, so reading that we're “the best team ever” is always lovely to see. We have some great characters among our publishers, so it's always a pleasure to catch up with them and hear about new projects or site updates that they're working on.
What is the best piece of professional advice you have ever been given?
'Control what you can control.'
It's important to focus on the things you can influence and not lose energy or stress out too much about situations beyond your control.
What do you enjoy most about working at Venatus?
Despite joining Venatus only three weeks before the first lockdown, I've had a fantastic time working with everyone. I love how the team is super supportive and helpful to one another, making it very easy to settle in.
I also love the Diversity and Inclusion Committee initiative. It's great to see so many diversity champions driving positive change within the organisation and beyond!
We also have some of the best quizzes going, thanks to Matt Gibbs, our Head of Advertising Operations. The detail and photoshop artistry that goes into these continues to amaze us.
